HYDERABAD: A school in Hyderabad’s upscale Banjara Hills where a four-year-old girl was allegedly sexually abused by the principal’s driver will lose its licence and its 500-odd students will be transferred to other schools.
The decision was taken on Friday by Telangana‘s education minister Sabitha Indra Reddy, who told the district education officer (DEO) to cancel the licence of the private school in posh Banjara Hills area with immediate effect.
The driver (36) was arrested on October 18. He had been abusing the girl for nearly two months and had threatened her with dire consequences if she told anyone. The principal, too, was arrested a day later.
“We will call all the parents for a meeting within the next three days to discuss the next course of action,” said Rohini R, Hyderabad DEO. She added that the advance fees paid by parents would be reimbursed based on the number of months left in the current academic year.
